Sole Foot and Ankle Specialists now carries SteriShoe®, the first product that safely and effectively sanitizes the inside of shoes using a germicidal ultraviolet (UVC) light. SteriShoe®® is designed for people who have toenail fungus (onychomycosis), athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), diabetes and chronic shoe odor.
Each human foot has more than 250,000 sweat glands and sweats up to eight ounces a day. Synthetic socks may wick away moisture from your foot, but ultimately move through the sock and into the shoe. Bacteria and microorganisms that reside in your shoe can cause toenail fungus and athlete’s foot, and causing re-infection. Using SteriShoe®® on a regular basis will not only sanitize your shoes and can prevent re-infection from occurring.
The American Diabetes Association and the American Podiatric Medical Association urge people with diabetes to be proactive about the health of their feet. Diabetes often causes poor blood circulation which can lead to loss of sensation. Pain tells our bodies that something is wrong, but when we cannot feel pain, an untreated blister can develop in a foot ulcer. When used daily, the SteriShoe® sanitizer will destroy microorganisms in the shoe and help diabetes patients in keeping their feet healthy.
The SteriShoe® is proven to be safe in sanitizing the inside of shoes by using germicidal, ultraviolet (UVC) light. The SteriShoe® is safe and has a compression sensor that will shut the UVC light off. The ambient light sensor pre-scans the shoe before allowing the SteriShoe® shoe sanitizer to turn on. If the ambient light sensor detects enough light it will not turn on.
The SteriShoe® adds nothing to the shoe. Shoes are properly sanitized after a 45 minute treatment cycle. After 45 minutes up to 99.9% of the harmful microbes that can cause toenail fungus, athlete’s foot and offensive shoe odor are destroyed. Once the cycle is complete, you can wear your shoes.
The SteriShoe® ultraviolet shoe sanitizer is the first safe and effective way to clean the inside of shoes.
